Standing strong through seasons of adversity through love
I Corinthians 13:8 AMP, "Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth]."
There are four types of love.
Eros - this is the physical attraction, the sex appeal or Hollywood's definition of love!
Philia this is the love and affection between friends; the friendship love
Storgethis is the affection between family members; family love
Agapethis is the God kind of love and is the highest form of love
It is our responsibility to maintain our love walk. Love is not a feeling; you can feel it but cannot base your life upon this because feelings will let you down!
Agape is love which gives expecting nothing in return! The love of God looks over people's faults, looks over our personal likes and dislikes and receives them. Agape overcomes prejudices! The Agape of God knows no boundaries and does not say "I'll love you if you love me!". Agape is the unconditional acceptance of other people and the act of seeking of their highest good. People in the world and society today don't know what real love is, they have taken their standards from what Hollywood says, that is where they pitch it! This does not have to be your standard! As a believer you have a higher role model, Jesus Christ, who went about helping, healing and doing good to all who were sick and oppressed by the devil.
The truth behind Valentine's Day! Valentine was a Christian in roman times. Because of his faith he was put in prison, there he met a good prison guard who had adopted a blind girl. Valentine witnessed to this man and prayed for his daughter who received her sight. Approximately 48 people received Jesus through his witnessing whilst there in prison. The roman leader was so angry he sentenced Valentine to death and on the eve of his execution he wrote a letter to the young girl who had been healed, closing it with from your Valentine! The true message of Valentines Day is about love for Jesus our Saviour!
Let's apply the Word to Valentine and be blessed!
V is for victory
Psalm 118:14 NLT The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.
Romans 8:37 AMP Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.
I Corinthians 15:57 AMP But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.
II Corinthians 2:14 AMP But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ's victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere,
MSG In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ.
A is for Authority
L is for Love
Matthew 5:43 MSG v43-45 You're familiar with the old written law, 'Love your friend,' and its unwritten companion, 'Hate your enemy.' I'm challenging that. I'm telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst.
Matthew 22:37-40 MSG Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.' This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' These two commands are pegs; everything in God's Law and the Prophets hangs from them.
Mark 12:29-31 MSG Jesus said, "The first in importance is, 'Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.' And here is the second: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' There is no other commandment that ranks with these."
Luke 6:31 MSG v31-34 "Here is a simple rule of thumb for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you; then grab the initiative and do it for them! If you only love the lovable, do you expect a pat on the back? Run-of-the-mill sinners do that. If you only help those who help you, do you expect a medal? Garden-variety sinners do that. If you only give for what you hope to get out of it, do you think that's charity? The stingiest of pawnbrokers does that.
Luke 6:35 MSG v 35-36 "I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You'll neverI promiseregret it. Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we're at our worst. Our Father is kind; you be kind.
E is for Endurance
N is for Never Give Up
Proverbs 12:1 MSG If you love learning, you love the discipline that goes with it how shortsighted to refuse correction!
Proverbs 28:4 MSG If you desert God's law, you're free to embrace depravity; if you love God's law, you fight for it tooth and nail.
T is for Tenacity
I is for Integrity
N is for Never Give Up
E is for Eternity
John 3:16 MSG v16-18 This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.
Ephesians 1:3 MSG v3-6 How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He's the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth's foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.
