Standing strong in seasons of adversity
You are blessed even when there is adversity. When you are going through a hard time this doesn't necessarily mean that you have done something wrong, or your faith is weak, it can simply be a season of adversity.
There will always be adversity. You can stand in great faith and still have strong adversity, at these times it is important to remember that the darkness around you cannot overpower or put out the light in you. Encourage yourself in the Lord, read the accounts in the Bible where people of God went through adversity and overcame it! Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.
Going through adversity does not mean that you are weak. Sometimes we can see something going wrong as a weakness, yes this may be a contributing factor some of the time but not always. There is an enemy who does not want you to prosper and show forth the good things of God, nor does he want you to finish! The Apostle Paul was able to say he finished his course, he ran his race and so can you.
Fear is a spirit, but according to 2Timothy 1:7 you have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.
Romans 5:17 AMP, "For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)."
We are to rule as kings in this life. Even natural leaders have adversity and have to make decision that are not always liked.
God is faithful to forgive you and He is also forgetful. God will not remember your sins; He casts them into the sea of forgetfulness. When you can truly forgive this means that the pain and pangs have been laid to rest. Even when it may come back to your mind, you can then take authority over yourself and choose not to bring it up again. Mark 11:25 enforces the importance of forgiveness. AMP, "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop."
You are a king in this life and according to Romans 8:37 AMP, "Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.", yet amid adversity you are more than a conqueror!
When you pray correctly in line with the Word then you have the right to expect that what you have prayed. Encourage yourself now, "Even though I might be going through adversity, I'm a winner and more than a conqueror. Even though it looks like my faith or prayer is not working, they are working."
Complaining brings the curse into your life. Choose not to be a complainer, moaner or grumbler but a forgiver, forgetter and one who speaks life and strength.
God will always give you a word in season. If you are faithful to come to Him and ask Him, is this a test, trial, adversity He will give you insight about the situation and what is going on.
Let's take a look at Joseph, he had a dream, told his brothers but they couldn't handle it and sold him into slavery (Genesis 37-40). A bend in the road is not then end of it. You may be going through a difficult time but this affliction is for a moment and we don't look to the things that are seen but the things that are unseen, II Corinthians 4:18 AMP, " Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting."
Even in adversity, if you allow that adversity through the word of God, it will shape your character. Not the adversity but as you get into the Word regarding it God can teach and show you things. The Bible say resist the devil and he will flee from you. It also says the adversary roams around looking for those he can devour. Starve the enemy, his thoughts and things that seem unconquerable in your life and instead feed the things that seem to be weak in your life with the Word of God, building yourself up, saying what the Lord is saying and not what the devil is saying.
This is taking the wrong thoughts captive, II Corinthians 10:4-5 AMP, " 4For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),"
Adversity will come because the devil will do everything he can to get you off track. Starve him out of your mind, your life
give him no room at all!
Genesis 39:2 AMP, "But the Lord was with Joseph, and he [though a slave] was a successful and prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian."
Because the Lord is with you, you will prosper wherever you are at. There are forces inside of you that are stronger than the forces around you. Don't allow the forces around you to dictate to you, the Lord is with you! It doesn't matter how many false starts you have, don't quit or give in to the opposing forces or adversity.
Genesis 39:10 AMP, "She spoke to Joseph day after day, but he did not listen to her, to lie with her or to be with her." Joseph refused to lie with his master's wife, who continually harassed him, trying to influence him to do wrong but Joseph didn't give in. He ran from sin! You don't run from the enemy but you do run from sin. She got Josephs garment but she didn't get him. The devil may have come close enough to get something belonging to you but he couldn't get you. Even though there is adversity the Lord is with you! Joseph's life seemed like a rollercoaster but he had the last laugh, his dream eventually came to pass!
There are many chapters and seasons in life, rejoice and give thanks to the Lord. Keep the winner on the inside; keep the adversity out of you and you will make it through!

God is good. He never stops being good or giving to us, sometimes we can unhook and stop receiving but
God never stops loving you. We can cause God displeasure but this never affects His love for us. Let's make it our aim to be well pleasing to God and the Bible tells us that as we live and do things in faith then we will please God. This means as we by faith put into practice the Word and live by the principles and standards found in it, in all areas or our lives, that we will live a life that brings delight to our Father God!
II Corinthians 5:9 AMP, " Therefore, whether we are at home [on earth away from Him] or away from home [and with Him], we are constantly ambitious and strive earnestly to be pleasing to Him."
